Wrongful Convictions
Every time I read about
another wrongfully convicted inmate, my heart breaks. Until a few years
ago, I did not even know that hundreds and hundreds of people are
wrongfully convicted. Please contact me if you
have a web site you would like to include on this site.
On a Sunday afternoon in the fall of 2007 our son was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit. Due to the allegations we immediately sought legal counsel and went through the “justice” system. Our son cooperated fully, allowing his home to be searched, measured and photographed. He willingly submitted his DNA. He attended every court appearance and never once gave less than 100% cooperation. He as well as his entire family believed in our justice system and knew that he would be found innocent and we could put this absolute nightmare behind us. At the preliminary hearing he was held on $50,000 straight bond. The bond was posted and another 11 months passed before we would go to trial. He didn’t flee; he didn’t quit his job. He waited for our justice system to clearly see that this was a false accusation and he could go on with his life. After 14 months of anticipation to see that justice was served and this travesty could be put to rest, our justice system failed our son and convicted him without any evidence even though there was an eyewitness there the entire time this allegation was to have happened. This was ONLY a false allegation.
There was no evidence as there was no crime. It was a bitter vindictive attempt again to try to ruin our son’s life by another person. Nothing more.

Efren Paredes, Jr. –
wrongly convicted in 1989 for a murder and armed robbery he did not
commit; a crime to which others plead guilty. The
case against Efren was entirely circumstantial. There was no
physical evidence linking Efren to the crime, no eyewitnesses to the
crime, and Efren was home with his parents and two brothers when the
crime occurred. He was arrested, tried and convicted in a three
month period and was sentenced to three life sentences. Efren was
arrested at age 15 and is now 33-years-old. |
